In Red Dead Redemption 2, tracking down unique weapons provides players with a rewarding exploration experience across the expansive wild west map. Among the most sought-after sidearms is Otis Miller's Revolver, a rare, custom-engraved gold Schofield revolver that once belonged to a legendary gunslinger. Finding this sidearm requires navigating specific story requirements and discovering a hidden location in the frontier.

Collecting the Two Torn Treasure Map Pieces

To officially trace the path to Otis Miller's treasure, players need to gather two distinct map fragments hidden on opposite sides of the map. The first piece is held by a hostile male hermit living in Manito Glade, located north of Annesburg in Roanoke Ridge. The second half is guarded by a female hermit living in a secluded cabin far northwest of Wallace Station in West Elizabeth.

Both hermits will attack unprovoked as soon as you trespass on their property, so you must defend yourself before searching their cabins. Inside a drawer in each cabin, you will discover one part of the Torn Treasure Map. Combining both halves forms the completed map needed to verify the location of the hidden stash.

Finding the Exact Cave Location in New Austin

The chest containing Otis Miller's Revolver is hidden inside a small, quiet cave in Cholla Springs, New Austin. Specifically, players should head northwest of the town of Armadillo toward the rocky ridge near Rattlesnake Hollow. The cave entrance sits tucked into the hillside, making it easy to miss if you are fast-traveling through the region.

Inside the cave, you will find a wooden chest that holds the gold Schofield revolver along with additional collectible items. Interacting with the chest allows you to inspect and claim the weapon, permanently adding it to your wheel inventory.

Epilogue Requirements and Unique Weapon Features

While players can assemble the treasure map early during Arthur Morgan's chapters, the revolver itself is intended to be reached during the Epilogue when playing as John Marston. Because New Austin is heavily guarded by lawmen earlier in the game, visiting Rattlesnake Hollow is much safer and more straightforward in the post-game.

Otis Miller's Revolver stands out due to its solid gold metal finish, intricate engravings, and smooth ivory grip handle. Beyond its visual appeal, it offers excellent accuracy and strong damage stats, making it both a stylish collectible and a reliable weapon for gunfights.
